Overview

This role leads Oportun’s HR team Mexico. The individual will be the business partner working with and advising the senior leadership of the organization based in Mexico. The Director will also act as a subject matter expert helping to move the organization forward through programs and initiatives aimed at attracting, retaining and engaging highly talented people. Director also ensures the effective and efficient delivery of HR services throughout the organization in partnership with Global People and Culture team. The HR team’s major areas of focus include meeting the ongoing growth demands of the business and expanding employee population with a culture that attracts top talent.

Responsibilities:

• Establishing scalable, long-range human resource strategies and practices for the organization.

• Meeting the complex demands of rapid growth while maintaining high talent, engagement, and performance and culture standards.

• Overseeing all aspects of Human Resources including, HR Operations, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition and Policy.

• Lead and develop the human resource team to effectiveness to help the company achieve continued financial growth while maintaining its productive team environment.

• Drives team effectiveness practices, including leadership coaching, team styles and decision making, and competency development to improve organizational performance.

• Ensure that HR practices comply with government laws, actively educate Managers on how to stay within legal guidelines regarding on the job behavior

Desired skills & experience:

• 10+ years of leadership experience with high-growth start-up and large global organizations.

• Undergraduate degree or relevant experience. Master’s degree is preferred.

• Bilingual (Spanish & English). Fluency (written/ verbal communication) required and ability to effectively present information to various audiences.

• Strong functional HR knowledge, business acumen, personal credibility, and outstanding leadership skills.

• Reputation as a strong decisive, results oriented HR leader with strong understanding of the business. Detail oriented and tactical, but also very strategic.

• Track record of leading HR strategy and initiatives, driving organizational people related results and leading people.

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and strong decision making capability.

• Demonstrated consulting skills and ability to provide coaching, feedback and guidance to leaders at all levels of the organization.
